The project cluster by PVFCCo-Phu My was recognized for the effective application of more than 2,000 technical solutions, generating an estimated economic value of over VND 3,000 billion.
On May 15, the project cluster titled “Improving the Efficiency of Phu My Fertilizer Plant through the Application of Technological Solutions and Optimization of Operation and Maintenance” was honored at the Vietnam Petroleum Science and Technology Award.

The award marks a significant milestone in the technology mastery journey of PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo-Phu My), a member unit of Vietnam National Industry – Energy Group (Petrovietnam).
According to the company’s representative, the project cluster is the result of more than 20 years of research and improvement since the plant began commercial operation in 2004. More than 2,000 technical solutions have been developed and implemented in a synchronized manner, focusing on four key objectives: increasing plant capacity; optimizing operations and reducing raw material and fuel consumption; improving maintenance efficiency; and developing new products and expanded applications. As a result, Phu My Fertilizer Plant has operated stably beyond its design capacity while reducing production costs, improving product quality, and enhancing competitiveness in the market.

Many important technical improvements have been implemented. Notably, the Ammonia workshop’s capacity was increased by approximately 20%, while the Urea workshop was optimized to reach an output of 2,500–2,534 tons per day, while also reducing energy consumption compared to the original design. Alongside technology optimization, PVFCCo-Phu My has also strengthened the application of advanced maintenance models such as Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM). These solutions help reduce downtime, extend continuous operating cycles, and improve equipment reliability.

Beyond production efficiency, the project cluster has also created significant economic value, with a total estimated value of more than VND 3,157 billion. The development of new product lines such as smart fertilizers and high-tech NPK fertilizers has also contributed to diversifying the product portfolio and better meeting the needs of the domestic agricultural market.
From an environmental and sustainable development perspective, the technological solutions help reduce emissions, save energy, and support the goal of achieving carbon neutrality, or Net Zero, by 2050. Phu My Fertilizer Plant is also regarded as a green, clean, and beautiful plant model in the industrial manufacturing sector.
According to the company’s representative, the Vietnam Petroleum Science and Technology Award recognizes PVFCCo-Phu My’s innovation efforts, while also demonstrating its capability to master technology, optimize operations, and promote digital transformation in production. This achievement contributes to strengthening the company’s position in Petrovietnam’s gas – power – fertilizer – chemicals value chain, while supporting the goals of ensuring energy security, food security, and sustainable development.
The Vietnam Petroleum Science and Technology Award was launched in 2015 and is held every five years. The award is reviewed and approved by Petrovietnam to honor outstanding scientific and technological achievements in the oil, gas, and energy sector.
